Today, Google announced that the Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) will be expanded in Gmail. Introduced in 2021, this new update will now have a checkmark icon from senders to show verifications, just like the blue ticks from Facebook and Twitter.

With the checkmark icon in place, it helps Gmail users and admins to identify messages that aren't scammers. As you should know, scamming has become very prominent online, particularly on mobile and sometimes they would even send fake PayPal emails. Google hopes that this gives users a better and safer experience from incoming spam.

According to Google, the update will roll out today (3 May 2023) and takes 1-3 days for full visibility. Besides users with personal Google Accounts, it will be available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers.
