GoPro is a pretty popular action camera company. Their cameras are used by a wide range of users, whether for extreme activities or just a camera for vacations and even creating vlog videos. Recently, Reuters reported that 15% of GoPro employees will be laid off. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, this happened because they wanted to restructure the company. In the first quarter of 2024, GoPro earned $186 million (~RM813 million ) which is lower than the previous collection. It is estimated that around 139 employees will be affected by the cost savings. This restructuring is also estimated to cost around $5-$7 million.

In addition, this year GoPro doesn't have many innovations other than offering the Quik video editing app for desktop. It is also unclear if the restructuring and cost-saving will have an impact on the development of helmets with built-in cameras that are estimated to arrive in 2025.

We have yet to confirm other details on the subject. Hopefully, everything will be resolved soon.
