Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo has revealed that the Government is targeting the digital economy to contribute 25.5 per cent to Malaysia’s GDP by the end of next year. Currently, the digital economy makes up 23 per cent of our GDP.

In his speech at the launch of the MYDINPay e-wallet earlier today, Gobind expressed optimism for our country to surpass the target, pointing to the government’s comprehensive infrastructure preparations. These include expanding internet access to facilitate broader online participation.

The Digital Minister stressed that the 25.5% contribution to GDP target is an achievable goal and will depend on how fast Malaysia adopts technology, as well as improve the digital economy. Gobind also asserted that the fast-growing digital economy has enormous potential to elevate Malaysia’s standing in the global economy and drive national revenue.
