Malaysia’s transport minister has given the go-ahead allowing Motorcycle e-hailing services such as Gojek as well as local startup Dego Ride, to start a small scale test in the year 2020. The six-month-long test will allow the government, as well as partnering entities to collect data to determine the feasibility and demand for the services mentioned.

As for the area of operations, the tests will be conducted in the Klang Valley area for now due to the fact that it has a much higher population density with existing infrastructure. With that said, we can expect Gojek and similar motorcycle e-hailing services to expand their operations to other states after the test period.

Unsurprisingly, bike riders working under these motorcycle e-hailing services are required to sign up for a PSV license if they are keen on transporting passengers around. Would you be keen on trying out any of the motorcycle e-hailing services as soon as it is available in Malaysia?
