Goodbye Exynos? Samsung might ditch the iconic name, new chips to be rebranded as “Dream Chip”

If you are a Samsung fan, this news might catch your attention. New rumour says the Korean brand could drop the long-time Exynos name for its chips. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, the Exynos chips are Samsung’s very own processors. Even though its designed chips have been sub-par in recent years, Samsung still insists on producing them. Recently, the Samsung Galaxy S24 is confirmed to feature the Exynos 2400 SoC. As you could expect, this chip lags behind MediaTek's Dimensity 9300 and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in performance.

But that is not the end of it, credible leaker @OreXda on X says Samsung could drop the Exynos branding for a new one. According to this leaker, the new Samsung chips could be renamed as “Dream Chip”. Interestingly, this is not the first time the name “Dream Chip” pops out.

Previously, netizens speculated the “Dream Chip” could replace the Exynos 2400 and Exynos 2500 as its successor. Rumour says the Dream Chip could feature 10 cores, use Samsung's 3 GAP process and customized GPU graphics core based on AMD technology.

We have yet to confirm if this rumour is true. So, you might want to take this news with a grain of salt. At this point, it’s best to wait for further confirmation from Samsung.
