If you actively use AI assistants, here's news that may interest you. While Android phones have been using Google Assistant for years, the platform has slowly lost its relevance with the rise of Gemini. Google has even announced that the latter will replace the former this year.

According to Google, many Android smartphones are expected to replace Google Assistant with Gemini in the coming months. Google's plan is for most mobile devices to stop using the older Google Assistant, which was first launched in 2016. Many Android users have already manually switched from Google Assistant to Gemini, so all this does is make things official.

Of course, smartphones aren't the only devices expected to make the transition. Google also has plans to make Gemini the default AI assistant for tablets, Android-powered in-vehicle systems, and wearables like smartwatches. Other platforms that would receive Gemini support include audio devices like headphones and speakers or display products like monitors and TVs.
