Google DeepMind has launched TranslateGemma, an open-source artificial intelligence (AI) model developed to simplify the language translation process. So, what should you know about it?

 

Translate Gemma supports 55 major languages

For your information, it supports 55 major languages around the world, including Malay. Three models are offered, namely TranslateGemma 4B, TranslateGemma 12B and TranslateGemma 27B. TranslateGemma 4B can be used on smartphones, TranslateGemma 12B on laptops, while TranslateGemma 27B on an NVIDIA H100 GPU or a Google TPU in the cloud.

Moreover, it is built on the Gemma 3 model and therefore has multimodal capabilities for translating text as well as images. Developers can use TranslateGemma today through Kaggle, Hugging Face and Vertex AI.
