Google Docs is finally making it easier to edit tablets

Editing documents can be a pain for those of us who don't have Microsoft Office. You either use free software that doesn't work as well or the functionally still-lacking Google Docs. Fortunately, Google has been working on improving the platform.

According to a recent announcement, Google Docs is planning to add new ways to customise tables. This is important because tables make it easier for people to present information, especially if they're in the form of numbers. Several features related to tables will be added with the update, and one of them is a new sidebar to manage them.

Besides that, you will be able to pin a row as a header for each page. This is useful if you plan to have a tablet that spans multiple pages. Similarly, you can set a particular row's contents to 'overflow' into the next page if necessary. Lastly, Google Docs will let you easily move columns and rows around, as well as quickly add new ones or sort them. This is very useful when you need to organise your data.

If you write a lot of documents that involve tables and data, this upcoming update will be incredibly useful for you. Having said that, what else do you think Google Docs needs to add so that it's as useful as Microsoft Word?
