Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced that Google Gemini now has over 750 million monthly active users (MAU). This was revealed in Alphabet's latest financial report yesterday, up from 650 million (MAU) announced last quarter.
Despite such achievement, Gemini is still behind ChatGPT
For your information, the increase in user numbers is driven by the introduction of the latest Gemini 3 model, which has higher performance than competitors and also the ability of the Nano Banana model, which can generate more realistic-looking images. Despite having 750 million MAU, Gemini is still behind ChatGPT, which has around 800 million MAU as of the end of December 2025.
However, Gemini's user growth rate was faster than ChatGPT's. The introduction of Gemini 3 led OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to declare a code red at the company to ensure their products would stay ahead. ChatGPT and Sora were improved to the point that development of the advertising system and AI agent was temporarily put on hold.
