If you’re an Android Auto user, then you must’ve encountered an annoying limitation that prevents Google Maps from being opened on your connected device when the app is opened on your car infotainment screen. Well, thanks to a new update, this has finally changed as the limitation is reportedly removed.

As reported by 9to5Google, users have recently noticed that recent updates to Android Auto and Google Maps have allowed the app to simultaneously open on Android Auto and their connected devices. Previously, the limitation caused headaches to users as Android Auto’s version of Google Maps doesn’t have a few features found on the mobile version.

These include more data about destinations and user-created location lists. The removal of the limitation is believed to be introduced in v11.67.0701 of Google Maps.

However, your experience may vary as the removal of this feature was not publicly stated in any update change logs. Well, let’s hope that it would be officially available to all users soon.
