Have you ever encountered problems like not knowing where to go while traveling? Or have you ever tried to look for those secret hideout restaurants while you’re at a foreign place? This new Google Maps feature might help you to solve those problems with locals’ recommendations or reviews!
Google has revealed a test feature which allows you to follow the Local Guides on Google Maps to see what are the places they’ve been to and would like you to explore. If you’re not familiar with the term ‘Local Guides’, it is a program launched by Google years ago to build a community of people from all around the world to add reviews and photos for certain locations to guide the users.
Now, Google is trying to promote this feature by adding the following option for you keep up with the updates from your favourite Local Guides. You can get reviews of restaurants, landmarks, or even basic information like locations of police stations or hospitals from them. Therefore, looking for a new restaurant to try out is not a troublesome thing to do anymore with Google Maps.
The feature of letting you to follow Local Guides is only available now in 9 cities which are Bangkok, Delhi, London, Mexico City, New York City, Osaka, San Francisco, Sao Paulo and Tokyo. If you happen to be in one of these cities or planning to visit them, you may check out the new feature to guide you in a foreign city.
