Google Meet now accessible via Gmail in Android and iOS

The rise in usage of video conferencing software has a great side effect for users overall. As more people use these services, the providers have a greater obligation to improve them. Google Meet is certainly one service that has been improving rapidly in recent weeks and can now be accessed via Gmail.

In a blog post yesterday, Google confirmed that Google Meet can now be accessed via Gmail in Android and iOS. With the new change, you can click to open a video meeting link send to your inbox, then tap on the Join button to get access to the call. As you can see from the image below, the transition is rather smooth and Gmail won't ask you if you want to open the video meeting using Google Meet or Chrome.

Google also has plans to add a 'Meet' tab in Gmail that will be able to see and quickly join any video calls that are scheduled via Google Calendar. You will also be able to create a meeting link via the Meet tab. Of course, you would need to have Gmail, Google Meet, and Google Calendar all installed to get the new app integrations.

As of the time of writing, Malaysia still hasn't gotten the updated version of Gmail with Google Meet access or the Meet tab. But with that said, what do you think about the new update?
