A few hours ago, some MAE app users spotted a new Google Pay advertisement. At the time of posting this news, the advertisement has since then been removed but still, what goes online stays online.
The first discovery was posted on Reddit. According to the original poster, he asked Maybank's customer support about it but looks like this prompted the team to remove the banner from the app. On the other hand, another MAE app user also posted this on his Twitter X account tagging Maybank about it.

In Maybank's response, all it could say was "Hi, greetings. We appreciate you waiting for the official announcement from us. Any announcement will be made through Maybank2u in the 'Announcement' section. Thank you". We tried checking on our MAE app and there was nothing there. However, some users can still see the Google Pay banner.
For those who missed it, Malaysians can now add a Wise card to Google Pay. Wise cards also work on Apple Pay and with it, customers can hold and spend in over 40 currencies at the mid-market exchange rate and no foreign transaction fees. Wise also provides two free ATM withdrawals of up to RM1000 per month.
