Google Photos users will soon be able to turn static photos into videos via an updated Create feature right from within the app. Google says that with this new tab, photos are converted into 6-second videos using the Veo 2 model.
This is the AI model one generation behind the latest version of Veo 3. So photos can simply be converted into videos without audio.
A new way to express creativity
For your information, this feature is accessible through the Create tab is the new Remix feature . Original photos can be transformed into pencil sketches, watercolors, anime styles and more.
This is a similar feature previously offered through Pixel Studio and is the same as those found in Honor AI and Galaxy AI. All of these AI-generated photos and videos can then be accessed again in the Create tab.

Additionally, all generated videos and photos will have a SynthID watermark so that others can see that they have been altered from the original image.
At this point, Google has not said what the limit is for the number of generated images a user can create. The feature will be available to users in the United States first starting in August on Android and iOS devices.
