Google Pixel 11 could arrive with Face ID-like features with Project Toscana

According to Android Authority, the Google Pixel 11 will eventually have a comparable feature to FaceID, under development under the codename Project Toscana. So, what should you know about it?

 

It is similar, but not the same as FaceID

For your information, Project Toscana is unique in that it requires only a single front-facing selfie camera, unlike Face ID, which takes up a large amount of space on the iPhone's forehead. In tests, Project Toscana works as fast as Face ID and can be used in both bright and dark conditions. In addition to Pixel, Project Toscana will also be used on Chromebooks.

It's still unknown how Project Toscana will work with just one camera and whether the infrared emitter is hidden under the screen. There are rumours that the upcoming 20th anniversary iPhone will also have a similar feature.
