Google Pixel 8a release - Tensor G3 SoC, 120Hz OLED and 64MP main camera from ~RM2368

After being in the rumour mills and popping up in many leaks online, Google has finally released the Google Pixel 8a in available markets worldwide. Featuring many features from its flagship Pixel 8 series, read on to find out more about the device.

Under the hood, the Pixel 8a is powered by the Tensor G3 SoC paired with 8GB RAM and either 128 or 256GB storage. There’s also a slightly larger 4492mAh battery which supports 18W charging via the USB-C port and 7.5W wireless charging. 

 

 

Screen-wise, it’s a 6.1-inch 120Hz OLED with an FHD+ resolution, peak brightness of 2000 nits and a centre punch-hole cutout housing the 13MP selfie shooter. Meanwhile, the main camera at the rear is a 64MP shooter paired with a 13MP ultra-wide camera. 

Other notable specs include an IP67 rating, a more rounded design, Android 14 with the promise of updates for 7 years, AI features such as Circle to Search and more, as well as colour options of either Bay, Aloe, Obsidian or Porcelain. In the USA, the Pixel 8a starts at USD499 or ~RM2368, with the 256GB variant being USD559 or ~RM2653.

Of course, this device is not officially available in Malaysia, with Pixel enthusiasts having to import or purchase the device at the available markets, the nearest being Singapore.
