The Google Pixel 9a is set to launch in Malaysia with a price of RM 2699. This device comes with Gemini AI, a 48MP camera, and promises seven years of updates. It will be available in the Google Store and other Malaysian retail outlets starting April 2025 (Update: In recent announcements the Pixel 9a will be released in Malaysia in 16 April 2025).
This new Pixel 9a features a metal frame and improved IP68 protection against water and dust, along with a scratch-resistant display. Unlike the Pixel 9 series, the Pixel 9a doesn't have a raised rear camera bar. Instead, the 48MP + 13MP ultra-wide dual rear cameras are almost flush or flat against its plastic backside.
Like the regular Pixel 9, the Pixel 9a also offers great computational photography. This will include features like Macro Focus for really detailed closeup shots and the Add Me feature where you can add another person to a shot after the first shot has been taken.
The Pixel 9a is available in four colours: Iris, Peony, Porcelain, and Obsidian. Software-wise, it will receive Pixel Drops, OS, and security updates for seven years. A Pixel 9a Case is also available, while the Pixel 9a includes 3 months of Google One and 6 months of Fitbit Premium.
