The Google I/O event just kicked off a few hours ago and the Google Pixel Fold was officially announced. It's now available for pre-order but as always, it's not coming to Malaysia at all. Regardless, here's everything you need to know about the newest Android foldable device.

Powered by the Google Tensor G2 chipset + Titan M2 security coprocessor, it's confirmed that the interior OLED display is 7.6 inches and Google claims that the Pixel Fold has a thinner profile than any other foldable device in the market. On top of that, it has a 6:5 aspect ratio, a 120H refresh rate, and up to 1450 nits peak brightness. The exterior display is 5.8 inches and oh, there's no gap in between when folded.

There are two memory configuration variants - a 12GB + 256GB or 12GB + 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The camera setup is pretty tamed if compared to other Android phones, using a 48MP main camera alongside ultrawide and telephoto lenses with 10.8MP each. The front camera is hanging out on the exterior display with a 9.5MP sensor.

Moreover, the battery pack is just 4821mAh, supporting 30W fast charging and the charger adapter is sold separately. It's worth noting that the power button also functions as a fingerprint sensor and the displays use Gorilla Glass Victus. Also, it's only water resistance rated and of course, it has Android 13 out of the box and it will be upgraded to Android 14 when the time is right.

The official starting price is $1799 (~RM8019) and customers who pre-order it will get a free Pixel Watch. Well, not that it matters since Malaysia is often out of reach for Google's market (lol). Stay tuned for more Google I/O news.
