Google Pixel devices overheating after latest update

When it comes to software, you sometimes get improved performance and new features. But an update could also screw some things over unintentionally, like the latest Google app update for Pixel devices.

Recently, some Google Pixel users have complained about their phone overheating. One such instance was a Reddit user, who reported of the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6 experiencing this issue. Allegedly, the devices were draining battery at a rate of 20% per hour even when they were not in use.

The culprit is believed to be an update for the Google app, and seems to only affect Pixel devices so far. But if your phone has been losing battery faster than usual, it could also have affected yours. Rolling back to an older version by using the relevant APK file seems to fix the problem, but Google will have to eventually come up with a proper bug fix.

Mind you, Google Pixel devices aren't available in Malaysia. But the Google app is on most Android devices, so you could run into a similar issue some day (or with another app). Has this ever happened to you? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
