Free-to-play mobile games are common these days, but the Google Play Store isn't void of traditional one-time purchase games. Mind you, these games tend to be less popular for mobile users, as they are considered 'expensive'. But what if you can try them first?
Free trials coming?
According to Android Authority, Google might be working out a way to offer Play Store users free trials for paid games. In the Google Play Store version 49.6.19-29, a series of code strings confirm this. The section of code is as follows:
Try before you buy
Time starts when you open the game
Get the full game for %1$d minutes at no charge
Get the full game for 1 hour at no charge
Get the full game for {trialDuration} hours at no charge
Buy with one-time payment
Pick up where you left off if you decide to buy
You already used the trial
When implemented, Android users should be able to try selected games for a given duration without having to buy the game. Even after the trial ends, you can pick up from where you stopped if you decide to purchase the game. This feature is great for those who aren't sure whether to spend the money on a game and want to try it out first.
Wondering what paid games are available on the Google Play Store? Big titles (that PC gamers would recognise) include Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption, Slay the Spire, and more. If you don't own a PC, getting the mobile version could be how you can get your hands on these games. It will also help developers if sales for these games increase.
What do you think? Would you buy more one-time purchase mobile games if you could try them first? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
