When downloading or updating apps from Google Play Store, the only way to check the progress without going in the app store is by swiping down the notification panel. In the future, it might be unnecessary to do so while waiting for the download to complete, as Google could use a floating bubble as a progress indicator.
An in-app setting discovered by 9to5Google reveals that the feature is in the works. It seems that Google will use a floating bubble to indicate the download progress with the 'Show install progress bubble' option. Once enabled, the floating bubble will show the progress of the current app getting installed. Similar to other bubbles in Android, it can get dragged around the screen or to the bottom to dismiss it.
Besides that, Google Play Store also announced that app archiving would soon arrive as a way to conserve space on Android phones as part of November's Google System Updates. It works by uninstalling an app without deleting its data when running short on storage. If users wanted the app back, the 'Install' button for the app not existing on your phone would get displayed as 'Restore'.
