Translation apps are super useful for travellers these days. In particular, Google Translate is probably the most widely used due to its relative accuracy. Recently, Google has been testing some updates that could improve the quality of life when using Google Translate.

Larger fonts for translation

According to Android Authority, Google is testing the suitability of larger fonts for text in version 9.21.36.816661266.2 of Google Translate. This should help with live conversations, where users have to show the other person the translated text. Although it sounds simple, larger fonts can be handy for some scenarios.

For instance, you won't have to force older folks with poor eyesight to squint at the screen. You might wonder: Why not use the voice-based app? Well, text-based translation will work if you're trying to speak with someone with hearing issues. You can also screenshot your translated statement or question, which helps when conversing with someone via text messages.

Update to AI translation

Besides that, Google is testing new updates related to Google Translate's AI features. The latest version will have two new "Understand" and "Ask" buttons. While the former helps users learn the context or meaning of translated text, the latter lets you ask how a translated word or phrase can be used.

In my opinion, the new buttons could be convenient for those learning a new language, so it's a good update. If you've seen and tested the updated version of Google Translate, let us know how it's working for you!
