Google Wallet launches in Malaysia, supports CIMB, Hong Leong Bank, Public Bank & HSBC cards

Today, Google Malaysia is excited to announce Google Wallet is now available in Malaysia. Like other eWallets, Google Wallet provides a simpler and other helpful payment experience to people, as well as supporting digital items such as boarding passes and credit cards. 

With Google Wallet, Malaysians can now download at the Google Play Store and use the platform to tap and pay in stores or checkout online. On top of that, cardholders of CIMB Bank (Mastercard credit cards), Hong Leong Bank (all credit and debit cards), Hong Leong Islamic Bank (debit cards) and Public Bank (Visa credit and debit be able to add their payment cards to Google Wallet. 

Cardholders of HSBC (Visa and Mastercard credit card) and HSBC Amanah (Visa and Mastercard credit card) will also be able to add their cards to Google Wallet in the coming months. Since it's Google Wallet, that would mean that you need an Android phone or a Wear OS device where contactless payments are accepted, including overseas if your card is permitted already.

Payment cards from Google Wallet can be used to pay online or in-app at brands such as Airbnb, Al-Ikhsan Sports, Applecrumby, Eat Cake Today, Shopee, or wherever you see the Google Pay button. Plus, boarding passes from AirAsia are doable, while Malaysia Airlines would be added in the coming months.
