While it came as no surprise due to all the leaks, Google has finally and officially announced the new Nexus 7 2 tablet and it also comes with Android 4.3. Built by Asus, tech specs for the new Nexus 7 2 tablet include:

  • 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB / 32GB Storage
  • 7-inch IPS display (1920 x 1200, 323ppi)
  • 5MP rear camera (auto focus) + 1.2MP front camera
  • 3950 mAh battery
  • Supports WiFi + NFC + Wireless charging (Qi compatible) + HDMI output through SlimPort + Bluetooth 4.0 + optional 4G LTE
  • Fraunhofer stereo surround sound speakers
  • 200mm x 114mm x 8.65mm | 290g / 299g (LTE)
  • Android 4.3

The price has been confirmed at $229 (RM732) for the 16GB WiFi version, $269 (RM860) for the 32GB WiFi version and $349 (RM1116) for the 32GB Wifi + 4G LTE version. This brings it into direct contention with Asus's own recently released MemoPad HD7 which could mean a slightly higher price tag than just the normal US to Malaysia currency conversion. Note that for now the 4G LTE version seems to be headed for the US market only. According to the Google site it will be available at the end of the month on 30 July 2013 but no exact news just yet when the new Nexus 7 2 tablets will be available in Malaysia.
