Have you ever created an email account with an address that made you cringe? We've all been there before, but the unfortunate problem is that you can never change the address, no matter how much you dislike it. That could change soon, at least for Gmail users.
Change new email address
Recently, Google has added a support page (in Hindi) explaining how users could change their email address. Specifically, the support page states: "In some cases, you can use a different email address (username) to identify your Google Account."
Further down the support page, Google states that users must delete their current email address to switch to a new one. This makes sense, as it would ensure your email account's security. After all, having multiple email addresses could increase the chances of hackers getting access to them.

If it's available for you, the option to change your address should appear here
Limitations abound
Of course, there are also other limitations. As expected, you must choose an address that's not already been used. Additionally, the support page states that users "usually can't change" email addresses that end with the standard @gmail.com. Mind you, we're not sure if that is referring to the current setup.
Gradual rollout
Personally, I've already checked and confirmed that the option to switch email addresses isn't available for my email accounts. That means the option is likely unavailable in Malaysia for now, so we're looking at a gradual rollout here. Hopefully, we'll receive an official announcement from Google soon.
