Recently, Google announced a USD2 million (~RM7.9 million) investment in the Sundance Institute to develop an AI education ecosystem for the film industry. So, what should you know about it?
This effort is done with the help of The Gotham and Film Independent
For your information, this effort is being done in partnership with The Gotham and Film Independent to train over 100000 artists in basic AI skills. Through this collaboration, an AI Literacy Alliance will be established to set values, ethics and guidelines for the use of AI that protect human creativity.
Moreover, Sundance and partners will provide free online curriculum as well as scholarships for the Google AI Essentials course. Plus, Google announced that an AI Creators Fellowship program will also be created to support technical experiments, build case studies, and hold community discussions.
In addition, Google emphasises that the future of film is not determined by tools alone, but by human imagination empowered by technology. This initiative marks an important step in ensuring that AI becomes a support tool, not a replacement for artistic creators.
