Google is discontinuing support for its Street View app and removing it from app stores

Google has recently announced that it will be removing the standalone Google Street View app from both Google Play Store and Apple App Store in the “coming weeks”. Moreover, support for the app will also be discontinued in March 2023.

This was confirmed by Google spokesperson Madison Gouveia via a statement shared with The Verge. In case you’re not familiar, the Street View app, as the name would suggest, allows users to explore places on Google Maps from a first-person view and contribute 360-degree imagery to be utilised in the app.

However, the app has become redundant in recent years due to the fact that the same identical features of the app can be found inside the Google Maps app. Hence, it makes perfect sense for Google to remove the Street View app in favour of a more extensive and unified experience on Google Maps.

Therefore, don’t be surprised if you can’t seem to find the Street View app on your device’s specific app store in the near future. So, what do you guys think of this move by Google? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more tech news such as this.
