In the latest development, Google is reported to be introducing a new split-screen mode configuration in the upcoming Android 16 update. According to a report by Android Authority, Google is developing a 90:10 ratio for split-screen mode , where one app will use 90% of the screen space , while the other only 10%. This way, one app can dominate the display space, while providing a small space at the top or bottom for other apps.

Additionally, this feature appears to be inspired by the Open Canvas function on OnePlus phones , which works very similarly to what Google is currently developing. While it's not certain whether Google is collaborating with OnePlus, this functionality is seen as a major improvement to multitasking capabilities on Android.

As of now, the 90:10 ratio feature is not yet available for public testing. However, according to Android Authority, it is likely to be introduced in Android 16 QPR1 as its development appears to be nearing completion.
