We know that there are some of you out there who will never upload your personal files onto the cloud services like Google Photos and iCloud for privacy concern. Not to say there are many news regarding celebrities’ photos being leaked from the services as well. Not long ago, Google accidentally sent some of the users’ private videos from Google Photos to the other strangers, and they have apologized to those who were affected by the issue.

Between 21 and 25 November last year, some of the users of Google Photos have received videos that didn’t belong to them. After that, it has been confirmed the ‘technical issue’ was caused by Google’s Takeout, which is a service that lets users export their data to downloadable files from various Google’s products. According to 9to5Google reports, 0.01 percent of Google Photos’ users were affected, out of over 1 billion users. Therefore, it’s still a serious issue considering its massive amount of users.

Later on, Google didn’t try to hide the issue from the public. Instead, the company was honest about the mistake by apologizing to the affected users through emails. Luckily, the issue is said to be fixed so you don’t have to go delete whatever scandalous stuff you have in the cloud storage *wink*. Delete or not, we still want to remind you to upload your personal files to cloud storages carefully.
