When it comes to web browsers, Google Chrome is currently one of the most widely used. Even some Mac users prefer it over Safari browser. But Google Chrome has an issue with Mac devices where battery performance is poor. Now, reports claim that Google has pledged to address this on-going problem.

According to MacRumors (via The Wall Street Journal), Google will work on getting Chrome to better prioritise active tabs and limit the resource drain from tabs in the background. This is a feature known as tab throttling that has always been around but doesn't seem to work all that well with Mac PCs. By optimising this feature, Google claims that Mac users should be able to see a "dramatic impact on battery and performance" when using the Chrome browser.

This is not the only feature that Google is working on to improve the performance of Chrome on Mac devices. Google has also been working on how to better block ads that take a lot of resources by limiting access. There will also be an update that optimises the browser to allow more important or critical parts of the browser to perform faster.

Since we use internet browsers daily, a faster one that drains less battery is great for those of us using mobile devices or laptops. But just saying that we'll see improvements doesn't tell us much.
