Recently, Google’s Scam Detection feature has arrived for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series. So, what should you know about it?
A feature similar to Truecaller
For your information, Scam Detection detects fraudulent phone calls and then alerts the phone owner about them. This feature uses the Gemini artificial intelligence built into the device to detect phone calls that are suspected of being from scammers. In case you are not familiar, this feature works similarly to the popular Truecaller app.
Moreover, the data is not seen by Google to ensure the privacy of the device owner. By default, this feature is turned off, and users must enable it themselves. At this time, Scam Detection support on the Galaxy S26 series is limited to users in the United States before expanding to other markets.
Additionally, Scam Detection can filter out messages sent via Google Messages that are also fraudulent. It identifies scammers' tactics in sending messages before displaying a warning to the user. Gemini AI is again used to scan the messages received.
As of now, Scam Detection in Google Messages is currently supported in 20 countries in English, Arabic, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish only at this time. It is also only supported on Pixel devices and the Galaxy S26 series.
