The cases of Covid-19 in Malaysia have increased to a total number of 553 by today. While the cases are increasing, it doesn’t mean we have to panic over the virus and cause unwanted chaos in our society. At this time, we think that everyone should follow the precautions to stay away from crowded places and keep yourself hygienic. Meanwhile, in the US, Google’s sister company has developed a site which offers free Covid-19 screening tests to specific counties, as one of the measures proposed by the US President Donald Trump.

Verily, a health research company that is under Google’s parent company Alphabet, has started clinical research that is called Project Baseline. The research is an initiative to make it easy for people to participate in clinical research and contribute their health status to assist in Covid-19-related studies. Other than that, the project is also led by 1700 engineers to facilitate access to the testing.

By being eligible to participate in the project, the person must be above 18-year-old and holds citizenship in the US. Participants will then undergo multiple level screenings to determine if they really need to proceed to Covid-19 tests. Their information will also be shared with various government and health authorities for public health purposes. Although the project is currently only available in the US, Verily has stated in its official website that there is a possibility of the platform being expanded internationally.
