Google Play Movies & TV will be the latest service and application that the company will send to the graveyard, with the app no longer available on Android, iOS, Roku and most smart TVs. Now, Google has pretty much revealed when the app will stop being supported and how those who have bought media through the app can see them moving forward.
On the official support page for Android TV, Google said that Google Play Movies & TV will no longer be available on Android TV devices or the Google Play website. However, users can still be able to access all of their previously purchased titles, including active rentals on Android TV devices, Google TV devices, the Google TV mobile app (Android and iOS), and YouTube.
All of this will begin on 17 January 2024, hence it’s pretty much confirmed that support for Google Play Movies & TV will end on this date. After this date, users can watch previously purchased titles on the Shop tab on TVs and streaming devices powered by Android TV.
Meanwhile, on cable boxes or set top-boxes powered by Android TV, they can be viewed on the YouTube app. Lastly, on a web browser, you can view them on the YouTube website.
