The generative AI trend has flourished in 2024, with more companies aiming to develop their own version. For smartphones, Google Gemini is definitely the biggest player in the game now. As such, it's not surprising to see Google adding new features to stay ahead.

According to Android Authority, Google is experimenting with adding a dedicated Google Gemini button to the Android lock screen. The developers have added a flag (or toggle) in Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2 to enables a button with a sparkle/star icon. For your info, this is the icon for Gemini, so this new button on the lock screen could be another way to activate Gemini.

Mind you, the button doesn't work in the beta version, meaning Google developers could just be experimenting. But if they end up adding the button, we may see it in next year's Android 16 update. Of course, it could also show up as early as Q1 2025 in Galaxy AI for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series. After all, Galaxy AI is essentially Gemini with a different name.

Is adding the button on the lock screen useful to you? Or do you have a suggestion on how or where Gemini can be activated? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
