Grab now requires selfie verification for riders starting from 12 July 2019 onwards

Grab adds more priority to driver-partner safety with Passenger Verification feature with facial recognition technology

Starting from 12 July 2019, it will necessary for riders to send a selfie to Grab via the app to be used as a form of verification. Without the said verification, Grab app usage is presumably limited and they will not be able to book rides via the application.

Grab reassured everyone that the selfies will not be disclosed to their partnering drivers, and it will be used solely for verification as well as to help assist authorities whenever necessary. Simply follow the necessary steps laid out by the application itself, grant permission to the smartphone’s camera, and snap a selfie of yourself in order to be verified by Grab.
