Grab reportedly to acquire foodpanda in Malaysia, Singapore & other SEA markets

If you're too lazy to go out and eat in Malaysia, there's either Grab or foodpanda to choose from. However, that may not be the case anymore as according to sources, Delivery Hero, the parent company of foodpanda may actually sell off its business in Malaysia, alongside our neighbouring countries.

Besides Malaysia, the negotiations to sell foodpanda businesses also include Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos. Grab was reportedly as a potential buyer and reports say the Singapore-based company could fork out one billion euros (almost ~RM5 billion) to acquire Delivery Hero's asset.

At the moment, nothing is official yet so foodpanda told the media that the discussions with a few parties are still in the early stages. Grab also did not comment or respond to the media. Should it be true, then we could see a repeat of how Grab bought over Uber's business in Malaysia a few years ago, allowing the company to monopolise the e-hailing market.
