Grab takes over Chope, a restaurant booking platform

Grab today announced they have taken over a Singapore-based restaurant booking platform, called Chope. For now, the takeover price has not been announced by either party. With this takeover step, it simultaneously re-establishes Grab's position in the "online-to-offline" area while also helping sellers to get more customers.

In addition, the takeover of Chope also allows Grab to expand their market to include those who eat in stores. As a result, this does not limit them with food delivery support through GrabFood only. Chope was previously founded in 2011 and currently operates in several cities, including Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Phuket, and even Bali with over 13,000 restaurants under the Chope chain.

Moreover, Grab also previously took over a food-focused portal, named HungryGoWhere in 2022. We have yet to confirm other details on the subject. Hopefully, everything will be sorted out soon.
