If you're a Grab user, you should have received a new email notification about GrabAssist. It is a new specialised transport service created to provide better accessibility and convenience for People with Disabilities (PWD), senior citizens, and riders who require additional mobility assistance.

How to Book GrabAssist

To book GrabAssist, users need to select Transport in the Grab app and tap on the Advance Booking option. After entering the pickup and drop-off locations, riders can choose the desired date and time before selecting Assist from the list of available services. Once confirmed, a trained driver will arrive at the scheduled time.

Availability and Vehicle Capability

GrabAssist is not offered as an on-demand service. It can only be booked between 75 minutes and up to 90 days in advance to ensure proper driver assignment. Vehicles used for GrabAssist come from the Plus range, offering larger boot space to fit foldable wheelchairs and other mobility aids comfortably.

Companions and Caregivers

Passengers may bring a caregiver or companion along, as long as the total number of occupants does not exceed the vehicle’s seating capacity, which is displayed in the app during booking. It is noted that the drivers under the GrabAssist programme will receive training from government-certified trainers to ensure they can safely handle mobility aids and offer courteous, supportive service throughout the ride.

Cancelling a GrabAssist Ride

Bookings can be cancelled via the Grab app, but standard cancellation fees may apply depending on the timing. Riders are advised to refer to the Advance Booking policy for full details.

The service currently operates only in the Klang Valley and is available exclusively through Advance Booking for city rides. Stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
