Rockstar Games has announced that it is delaying the release of what is likely to be the most anticipated video game ever, Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI). Previously slated for release in the fall of this year, Rockstar Games said that GTA VI will launch next year instead.

Specifically, according to a statement by the company, GTA VI will launch on 26 May 2026. In the statement, Rockstar Games apologises for the release date being later than what fans expected. 

“The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team”, the statement added. Moreover, Rockstar Games thanked fans for their support and patience while the company worked to finish the game. 

As for the reason behind the delay, the company said that it needed extra time to deliver at the level of quality fans expect and deserve. Rockstar Games will also provide more information about GTA VI soon.
