Apple is reportedly planning to directly take on Google and Amazon in the smart home market by releasing a slew of devices in the near future. These include a smart display device to compete with the Google Nest and Amazon’s Echo Show.

According to reliable tipster Mark Gurman, the smart display device would be similar to an iPad but less expensive and more oriented toward home use. Moreover, the device is also touted to include a magnet for mounting.

Writing on Bloomberg, Gurman further elaborated that unlike the iPad, the smart display will have a more limited scope. It will mainly be sued for FaceTime chats and controlling other smart home devices.

Of course, do take this information with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed as of yet. Well, if it turns out to be true, then it’d definitely be good news as more competition is better for consumers.
