HD Photos now rolling out in WhatsApp for iOS and Android users

Finally, after two months - WhatsApp is now rolling out HD Photos globally as we speak. In the next few weeks, we can also expect to see HD Videos launching alongside this new function.

To recap, HD Photos will allow you to send and share photos in higher resolution (while protected by WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption at the same). However, standard quality will remain the default option so if you want to send HD Photos, you can just tap on the HD option at the top of the image before sending.

If you do send a photo in HD quality, your friends and family can see the HD tag at the bottom left of the image. We assume that HD Videos should have the same effect. Both iOS and Android users will get the HD Photos update soon as long as they have updated WhatsApp to the latest version.
