Today, Nokia's partner, HMD has entered the Malaysian market with not one, not two, but more than three new phones. Introducing the HMD Pulse Pro, HMD Pulse+, and HMD Pulse, not only are these budget-friendly devices but they are designed to be easily repairable by consumers themselves. There's also the new HMD Skyline phone but we will get to that later.
How do consumers repair these HMD phones themselves? Well, whether it's a cracked display, a bent charging port, or a depleted battery, users can now pick up a self-repair kit in partnership with iFixit, allowing them to fix their phones at home without stepping out of their homes. HMD is marketing it as 'Gen 1 repairability'.

Next, the HMD Skyline is the company's first 5G smartphone which is set to launch here in September 2024. It seems to be a camera-centric phone, featuring a 50MP front camera with autofocus and eye-tracking, as well as a selfie gesture technology which users can make a peace sign or other hand gestures to activate the camera.
On the back, the 108MP Hybrid OIS triple camera setup offers the usual portrait mode with bokeh effects, x4 zoom and 0.5 ultrawide mode, all enhanced by AI Capture Fusion. HMD also integrated Detox Mode for users to customise their digital detox and maintain a balanced smartphone experience. It's also claimed to have a 48-hour battery life and Qi2 magnetic charging.

HMD will still continue to sell Nokia phones and at the same time, release new HMD original devices through Zitron Fulfilment Sdn Bhd, the authorized distributor for all HMD devices. At the moment, the HMD Pulse Pro (8GB + 256GB) is available in black and purple, priced at RM739 and will be released on 30 August 2024.
