Last week had been filled with many smartphone launches at the MWC 2022. However, one smartphone brand tried to keep a low profile by launching a few devices far from being flagships, and the brand we're talking about is Nokia

The event held in Barcelona was where devices such as HONOR Magic4 and realme GT2 got announced. Meanwhile, what Nokia did was merely introduce very low-end smartphones. The action brings us to the question of whether the company will stop making flagship devices, and the answer the source retrieved from Adam Ferguson, HMD's Head of Product Marketing, is a subtle 'yes'.

According to Ferguson, "making an $800 phone doesn't make sense for us at the moment." The executive also mentioned that the company doesn't "want to get involved in a massive spec war with other players" and would "stand for something very different" instead. That "something different" refers to good feature phones and good entry-level and mid-range smartphones that last several years, said HMD.

For some reason, it looks like the company's strategy has been going well for quite some time. During the beginning of the smartphone business, the company ambitiously tried multiple plans to bring the retro brand back to life. However, they didn't work out, not to mention the pandemic came later. After that, the company stopped pursuing the high-end market, and things started to get better, with Q4 2021 being the most profitable quarter to date.
