HONOR 70 5G release: SD 778G+ SoC, 120Hz OLED display and 66W fast charging from ~RM1774

HONOR yesterday released the HONOR 70 5G in China, the entry-level device in the HONOR 70 Series. Among the stand out features of the smartphone include a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display with a FHD+ resolution and a 1920Hz PWN dimming frequency.

Besides that, the device also sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ chipset with either 8 or 12GB of RAM. Storage-wise, there are three options to choose from, which are 128GB, 256GB and 512GB of storage respectively.

The HONOR 70 5G has a 4800mAh battery with support for up to 66W of fast charging. In terms of imaging, the device has a 54MP main + 50MP ultra-wide/macro + 2MP depth sensor triple-camera setup at its rear. The 54MP main is a Sony IMX 800 sensor which is the same one found on the more expensive HONOR 70 Pro and PRO+ variants.

As for the 32MP selfie camera, it’s housed inside the punch-hole cutout located at the top middle of the display. Completing the specs list are Android 12 via Magic UI 6.1, an under-display fingerprint scanner, 5W reverse charging, Bluetooth 5.2 and 5G connectivity.

According to HONOR's press release, the HONOR 70 5G comes in four colour options (Midnight Black, Crystal Silver, Emerald Green, Frosted Gold, and Icelandic Frost) and starts at CNY2699 or ~RM1774 for the 8/256GB model. As for the 12/256GB is is priced at CNY2999 or ~RM1972 while the 12/512GB variant is CNY3399 or ~RM2234.

HONOR has not announced the global availability of the device just yet. Rest assured though as we'll definitely be covering about its Malaysia release should it be made available in our country. So, what do you guys think about the HONOR 70 5G?
