Today, the HONOR Magic V3 made its debut and apparently, made a new Guinness World Record challenge for ultra-lightness by placing it on top of a stack of cards. To date, it's HONOR's latest thinnest, lightest and toughest foldable phone, weighing only 226g.
In collaboration with Bryan Berg, a Guinness World Record holder for card stacking, he successfully built a 54-level house of cards without using glue. After completing it, he placed the Magic V3 on top and this marks the world record. On top of that, HONOR also demonstrated the phone's durability with a 15-minute washing machine test.
According to HONOR, the Magic V3's durability consists of a Super Steel Hinge, made from the Second-generation HONOR Super Steel. This material boasts a tensile strength of 2100MPa, which exceeds other current foldable phones' steel hinge strength in the market.
By reducing the hinge body thickness to 2.84mm, HONOR has optimised the internal space for structural reinforcement, enhancing the device's overall resilience. The hinge is capable of withstanding up to 500,000 folds and also received the SGS Durability Certification, further cementing the device’s superior durability and reliability.
HONOR also unveiled the Magic V3 features a 6.43-inch external display which is fortified with the company's Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield, offering 10 times more drop and scratch resistance compared to regular glass. With 50% higher density, it can withstand accidental drops and daily wear and tear as well as under challenging conditions. It also has an IPX8 water-resistant rating, the highest for foldable phones that can submerge underwater up to 2.5 metres.
The HONOR Magic V3 is set to appear next at IFA 2024 in Berlin, Germany on 5 September 2024. Until then, stay tuned for our news coverage of the company's next-gen foldable phone.
