HONOR has officially brought its latest foldable, the Magic V5, to Malaysian shores. Touted as the world’s slimmest foldable smartphone, the Magic V5 is officially priced at RM6999 and is available in one memory variant (16GB + 512GB).
Recapping the Tech Specs
The Magic V5 clocks in at just 4.1mm when unfolded and weighs only 217g. While thinness is a key highlight, it also integrates upgraded hardware and software, such as a 5820mAh silicon-carbon battery. It is said to be the thinnest high-capacity cell in its class, supported by an E2 Power Enhanced Chip for better power efficiency and thermal control.
On the main interior screen, the Magic V5 features a 7.95?inch foldable OLED with 2K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 5000 nits peak brightness, 4,320?Hz PWM dimming, and enhanced Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Meanwhile, the exterior display is a 6.43-inch OLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate.
As expected, the Magic V5 uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, alongside a memory capacity of 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage for our local market. Plus, the Magic V5 is sporting a 64MP Periscope Telephoto Camera offering up to 100x digital zoom, along with a 50MP main shooter, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 20MP selfie camera.
AI-Powered Tools and Other Features
AI-powered photography tools like AI Super Zoom, AI Enhanced Portrait, and Motion Sensing Capture, plus a suite of post-processing options including AI Eraser and AI Cutout, are all directly accessible in the photo gallery. Speaking of AI, the Magic V5 introduces Multi-Task AI tools and a spacious 7.95-inch inner display, enabling three split-screen support for serious multitasking.
Concerning the durability of the Magic V5, HONOR improved the phone with a reinforced hinge rated for 500,000 folds, triple-layer inner screen protection with Non-Newtonian Fluid tech, and a new Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield for the outer screen. Other structural improvements include Aerospace Special Fibre materials, IP58/IP59 water and dust resistance, and a Foreign Object Detection system that alerts users if particles like sand enter the hinge.
