Last night, HONOR unveiled the Magic V5, claiming the crown as the thinnest and lightest foldable phone in the world. Launched in China for now, here are the tech specs and everything else you should know about the Magic V5.
The HONOR Magic V5 Tech Specs
So first things first, HONOR already teased the thin build before. To recap, the Magic V5 is just 8.8mm thin but only on the Ivory White model, while the other finishes are 9mm. Then when unfolded, the Ivory White becomes 4.1mm, followed by 4.2mm from the others. As you guessed, only the Ivory White model is 217g, slightly lighter than the others at 222g.
On the main interior screen, the Magic V5 features a 7.95?inch foldable OLED with 2K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 5000?nits peak brightness, 4,320?Hz PWM dimming, and enhanced Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Meanwhile, the exterior display is a 6.45-inch OLED display with the same 120Hz refresh rate.
As expected, the Magic V5 uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, alongside a memory capacity of up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, respectively. The battery pack is a big one as well, using 6100mAh with 66W wired, 50W wireless, and reverse wireless charging.
Then at the camera corner, the Magic V5 uses a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 50MP (main) + 50MP (ultrawide) + 64MP (periscope telephoto), while the front 20MP camera is spotted on both inner and outer displays. Other notable features also include:
- IP58/IP59 water and dust resistance rating
- Dual?5G, Wi?Fi?7, Bluetooth?6.0, NFC, dual-band GPS, satellite comms connectivity
- MagicOS 9.0.1 based on Android 15, features an AI-powered YOYO assistant and productivity tools
Prices and Availability
As we mentioned before, the HONOR Magic V5 is launched in the Chinese market for now. There are three models in total, and you can refer to the prices below:
- 12GB + 256GB - 8999 Yuan (~RM5.2K)
- 16GB + 512GB - 9999 Yuan (~RM5.8K)
- 16GB + 1TB - 10999 Yuan (~RM6.4K)
Despite the slightly thinner and lighter build of the Ivory White model, the price remains the same as the others. We can expect the Magic V5 global launch at the IFA event later this year and it will be launching in Malaysia as well. Stay tuned for our official news coverage until then.
