Before you get amazed by the phone's durability of towing a plan, HONOR has officially announced that its next-generation foldable flagship, the HONOR Magic V6, will launch in Malaysia on 4 June 2026. At just 8.75mm when folded, HONOR says the device maintains its position as one of the world’s thinnest foldable smartphones while introducing major upgrades in structural strength and display protection.

HONOR Pulls a Plane Using the Magic V6

Ahead of the official launch, HONOR staged an extreme durability showcase at the SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre where the Magic V6 achieved an ASIA Record for the “Heaviest Aircraft Towed by a Foldable Smartphone.” During the demonstration, the foldable smartphone was used to pull a 1.25-tonne Diamond DA42 aircraft across 150 meters.

HONOR also conducted additional stress tests involving a Ferrari sports car and even used the device as a pull-up bar. According to the company, the phone remained fully operational after all three demonstrations with no cracked screens, bent frames, or visible damage.

Super Steel Hinge Designed for Long-Term Durability

One of the key technologies behind the Magic V6 is HONOR’s new Super Steel Hinge system. HONOR claims the hinge delivers an industry-leading tensile strength of 2,800 MPa, which the company says exceeds the rigidity of a car’s A-pillar.

The hinge system has also reportedly passed 500,000 folding cycle tests, which HONOR estimates translates to more than 13 years of regular daily usage. The company also introduced an AI-assisted bionic cushioning system that helps disperse impact forces internally to better protect the foldable’s components during accidental drops.

HONOR Upgrades Foldable Display Protection

Beyond hinge durability, HONOR is also heavily focusing on display reliability with the Magic V6. The external display is protected by the new HONOR Anti-Scratch Nano Crystal Shield, which uses a 5,600-layer silicon nitride coating. HONOR says this provides 10 times better drop resistance, 15 times improved scratch resistance, and three times better anti-reflection performance compared to previous solutions.

To demonstrate the screen’s resilience, HONOR subjected the display to a wire brush drill test during the event. Meanwhile, the inner foldable display uses HONOR’s Magic Diamond Screen technology with Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) architecture designed to minimise visible creasing while improving long-term structural stability. The display system has also received multiple certifications, including SGS 5-Star Reliability Low Reflectivity Certification and TÜV Rheinland battery-related certifications.

First Foldable with Both IP68 and IP69 Ratings

HONOR is also positioning the Magic V6 as one of the industry’s toughest foldables thanks to its IP68 and IP69 dust and water-resistance ratings. According to the company, the device can survive water depths of up to 1.5 metres, placing it among the most water-resistant foldable smartphones currently available.

Four Colour Options Confirmed for Malaysia

The HONOR Magic V6 will launch in four colour variants, including Ferghana Red, Sunrise Gold, Ivory White, and Classic Black. Malaysians will be able to watch the official launch livestream on 4 June 2026 at 8 PM through HONOR Malaysia’s official Facebook page.
