HONOR has just given us our first look at its upcoming MagicOS 11, which will be based on the new Android 17. But instead of a totally new design, it looks like the brand is taking some major inspiration from Apple. That’s because it looks eerily similar to Apple’s Liquid Glass design.
A coincidence? Or an inspired choice?
In a few teaser videos shared on Weibo, the new MagicOS 11 interface features glossy, waterdrop-like buttons and glowing light effects. If that sounds familiar, it’s because it looks very similar to Apple’s "Liquid Glass" design language seen on iOS.
While other brands like OPPO and vivo have also borrowed a few design cues from the iPhone recently, tech fans are pointing out that HONOR’s version looks almost exactly like Apple’s. Right now, HONOR is already testing the new software on its latest flagship phones, including the HONOR Magic 8, Magic 8 Pro, Magic 8 Pro Air, and the premium Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design. These devices will be the first to get the update before it rolls out to other HONOR phones later this year.
This is not a new phenomenon
What do you think of this new look? Do you like the glossy vibe, or is it too close to the iPhone? Personally, we feel that tech companies copying each other or “borrowing” each other’s system and design is not uncommon. After all, it will be interesting to see how HONOR users in Malaysia would react to this news. Feel free to leave your comments below.
