HONOR X8 5G release: Snapdragon 480+ SoC, 5000mAh battery and 6.5-inch LCD panel

HONOR has quietly released a 5G version of the HONOR X8 which compared to its 4G version has several improvements but various downgrades as well. Spotted on the company’s official global website, the X8 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 Plus SoC paired with 6GB of RAM.

There is also an option to utilise 2GB of its 128GB storage as virtual RAM, using a feature called HONOR RAM Turbo. In terms of display, the X8 5G has a 6.5-inch Full HD+ LCD panel with a standard 60Hz refresh rate.

The 5000mAh battery is also bigger than the LTE version, which is definitely needed to cope with the battery drain while using 5G connectivity. There’s also support for 22.5W fast charging via the X8 5G’s USB-C port.

In terms of cameras, the device has a 48MP main + 2MP macro + 2MP depth triple-camera setup at its rear. As for the front-facing 8MP camera, it is housed inside the teardrop notch at the top of the display.

Other notable specs of the device includes a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.2, dual SIM, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Midnight Black and Ocean Blue colour options as well as Android 11 via Magic UI 4.2.As of the time of writing, HONOR hasn’t revealed details regarding the X8 5G’s price or availability.
